When to send wedding invitations depends on if you sent out a save the date or not. If you did not send a save the date, then wedding invitations should be sent out 4-6 months before your wedding. If you did send out save the dates, wedding invitations should be sent out 2-3 months before your wedding. You may consider sending wedding invitations 4-5 months before for destination weddings or if people have to make travel arrangements.

Wedding invitations should include:

  • Host names (this depends on who is paying for the wedding traditionally)
  • An invitation sentence
  • The couple's names
  • Date, time and location of the wedding
  • A way to RSVP
  • Details of the day like dress code, transport, accommodation and gifts
  • Optionally, a link to your wedding website with further details

The simplest and most effective way to address a wedding invitation is to write out the names of all the people in that household you intend to invite on the envelope. This is also the best way to avoid any potential confusion over who is invited.

A5 is the perfect size for a wedding invitation. It's got enough space to include all the details you need to let your guests know everything they need to know about your big day.
